Claire Cavanna

A graduate of Sydney College of the Arts (SCA) majoring in printmaking with works held in the Australian Print Collection of the National Gallery Australia in Canberra and various private and corporate collections.
In my creative practice, I use mark-making to add texture and depth to my paintings. These marks serve as visual accents and symbols that enhance the overall story of each piece, inviting viewers to look closer and find meaning in the details.
Overall, my work is about more than just creating beautiful images. It’s about offering a thoughtful and emotional experience that encourages reflection.
The opportunity to collaborate with Tanya Reinli and Upcycled Glassware has heightened my mark-making to support the process of transferring drawings onto glass.
It has allowed me to revert to my printmaking skills where chiaroscuro is key to an engaging image.

“My emphasis on removing elements of life that no longer hold value and replacing them with space for reflection suggests a mindfulness and intentionality in my creative practice.”
